Amazon Marketplace Seller Etailz Acquired for $75 million

Today Trans World Entertainment has acquired etailz for $75 million in cash and stock. Founded in 2008 etailz has become one of the largest Amazon marketplace sellers, consistently in the TOP 10. It was reported that over the 12-month period ended September 2016, etailz generated $116 million in revenue. And from 2013 to 2015, sales grew from $27 million to $93 million. Getting beyond the $100 million revenue threshold is a rare achievement and very few sellers have ever went there.

1,000 New Sellers Are Joining Walmart Marketplace Every Month

Since we looked at the Walmart Marketplace in August 1,000 new sellers have been joining the marketplace every month. Since August the marketplace has doubled in size to now have more than 4,000 sellers. Not only that, but since August active sellers - sellers who went beyond joining the marketplace and had sales - have doubled too. There are 1,000 active sellers on the Walmart marketplace already.

At Least 30% of Amazon Sellers Could Have Benefited From Incentivized Reviews

We estimate that more than 30% of all active Amazon.com sellers carry less than 10 products and 2 or less brands. Many of those sellers could have boosted their sales by using incentivized reviews, however last week Amazon put a stop to this practice. While many of the biggest Amazon sellers are carrying dozens of brands, a growing amount of sellers are manufacturers selling their own brand or new sellers building a brand. This is why we think incentivized reviews were so used by smaller sellers as that allowed them to have drastic increase in sales.

Fastest Growing eBay.com Sellers September 2016 Report

Just like in the previous months eBay fastest growing sellers list in September is full of unique sellers. Used books seller thrift.books who also sell as thrift_books on Amazon has been selling on eBay for many years, previously as many different sellers. However over the last year they seem to have restructured their eBay presence and thus have been growing a lot. So much that over the last month they became the top #1 seller on ebay.com.

Fastest Growing Amazon.com Sellers September 2016 Report

September was a big month for books sellers, as just like the month before many customers were shopping for books for school. However Ecolife Technologies looked the most interesting to us. They joined the Amazon marketplace just a few months ago, but were able to grow quickly by offering a very unique product - their own made replacement water filters for various appliances. Amazon.com is one of the most visited websites, and a lot of those visitors are searching instead of going for a particular product. Being able to offer a better or more affordable alternative to existing products is a guaranteed way to grow.

Rapid Expansion of the Amazon Marketplace in India

In May we looked at the amount of active marketplace sellers on each Amazon site. We found that Amazon.com was leading with more sellers than almost all other marketplaces combined. This time we wanted to investigate how much are Amazon marketplaces growing. Amazon India is the one to pay attention. While the European and Japan marketplaces continue to be bigger, Amazon India is growing faster than all of them.

Fastest Growing Amazon.com Sellers August 2016 Report

The story in August was back to school buying. Many of the top sellers were selling books or various school supplies. There were so many books being bought that even the large sellers like Jenson Books Inc, who are consistently in the TOP 10, were able to increase their sales considerably. A unique seller in this list was Assurant Solutions, they sell protection plans for electronics, office products and computers purchased on Amazon.

Rise of Scam Amazon Marketplace Sellers

Over the last month we noticed a rise in Amazon Marketplace sellers created for one purpose only - to scam people. All of them list a lot of products, have great prices, but as the orders start rolling it customers quickly realize that their products are not coming. For example Redline Street Performance this week started getting a lot of traffic and it only took us a moment to realize it's one of the offending sellers. They already have 420 negative reviews at the time of writing, and of course by now Amazon has suspended their selling, but that's at least 400 upset customers.
