Top 3 sellers in February are all selling their own branded products. While Christmas season was very strong for traditional reseller-style Amazon retailers, so far 2016 has shown great results for sellers focused on designing and manufacturing their own products. Existing brands are launching on the Amazon marketplace and are very quickly finding the customers. As private labeling is heating up, more and more sellers are trying to grow their own brands as well.
To keep up, in February Amazon launched 7 new fashion brands on Amazon.com, we wrote about it here.
Punch Skin Care, a premium skin care products brand, leads the rankings in February. Just like in January, the fastest growing seller in February was a retail business coming to Amazon to further grow their existing sales.
Both Buttons & Pleats and Reborn Labs are using a similar tactic. Proven brands outside of Amazon are able to launch in the marketplace and quickly grow their sales as they don’t have to market their brand as much. This also indicates that more vendors are managing their own sales, instead of having a retail company do that for them. As marketplace management software becomes more available and easier to use, brands are selling direct to customers.
Yet one of the largest sellers overall, Pharmapacks, has managed to achieve 26.10% growth. Which is impressive, considering they are consistently at the top of the USA sellers list during the last few months. Inc. recently wrote a story about Pharmapacks titled “How This Company Makes $70 Million Selling Random Stuff on Amazon” which we recommend reading to anyone interesting in selling on Amazon. As Inc. puts it:
So you never thought selling tens of thousands of everyday, low-margin products online would make a great business and a great story? Neither did the guys behind Pharmapacks. Until they did it.
We used feedback as a way to estimate how much sales has the seller been able to gain. But instead of looking at what everyones’ feedback was at the end of the month, we calculated the change in feedback throughout February. The table below is top 100 sellers ranked by the growth rate.
